School 2 School Supportr
Springwood Heath Primary School was formed from the merger in 2003 of a primary mainstream school and a special school for children with complex physical/medical difficulties
and associated learning difficulties (3-11).
Our Ofsted Inspections have resulted in our school being ‘Outstanding' for SEND provision:
‘Outstanding progress is made by pupils who access specialist provision for their
specific needs or disability. The support is extremely well matched to their precise need
by very skilled and highly trained adults who support their personal development,
well-being and learning needs exceptionally well.’
‘Information and communication technology provision is an outstanding
resource for many pupils with a special educational need or disability.’
‘Disabled pupils and those with special educational needs make outstanding progress. This is because their
individual and often very complex learning needs are met by highly skilled and caring teaching and support staff.’
As a school we came ‘Runner Up’ 2015 in the EDUCATE Awards SEND category and in 2016 we achieved the EDUCATE Awards SEND category.
We have recently presented at the SEND Conference 2017, Congress Hall, London as a case study
‘Successfully Assessing and Monitoring the Progress of Children with SEND in a semi-mainstream setting'
For all of these reasons, we are keen to work with and support other schools and early years settings.
We have areas that we feel are worthy of sharing with others and these include:
SENCO to SENCO support
SEND/Bespoke advice to mainstream schools
Observations and feedback concerning individual pupils, particularly those with ASD and ADHD
Supporting the development of accessibility plans
Use of PIVATS 5
